The IT Business Analyst (IT BA) plays a crucial role in facilitating collaboration between the business and the agile change organization. The IT BA identifies and gathers both functional and non-functional business, architecture and IT requirements and translates them in feature designs describing the to-be realized features in close co-operation with the stakeholders. Additionally, the IT BA supports decision-making on various management levels by presenting alternatives and substantiating them in a functional roadmap to clarify mutual dependencies.

Tus responsabilidades:

• The primary objective is to perform requirements engineering, translating the (business, architecture and IT) requirements into comprehensive functional feature designs as input for the IT-delivery organization, by making use of standard modelling techniques.
• Defines together with primary stakeholders the functional interdependencies between features of an epic, resulting in a functional dependency roadmap.
• Serves and verifies the IT-delivery during feature refinement, build, test and deployment.
The IT BA works together with:
• Business representatives: Tribe leadership, Product (area) leadership, Customer Journey Experts.
• The IT Delivery organization: IT (area) leadership, Chapter leads, DevOps engineers, IT-Integrators.
• Enterprise, Domain, Solution Architects.
• Defines: Together with primary stakeholders the IT BA slices EPICs into features and identifies the functional interdependencies between features of an epic, resulting in a functional dependency roadmap.
• Elicitation of requirements: The IT BA engages with stakeholders (business, architecture and IT) to understand their needs, and translate them in detailed requirements deliverables. Subsequently listing out requirements, categorization and prioritization (MoSCOw) and manage these accordingly. Tools can be used like Azure DevOps Boards. Applying elicitation techniques such as user story mapping, impact mapping, epic/feature/user story slicing.
• Analyzing: The IT BA uses data, processes, and systems to identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions. Use of quick scan template to support feasibility, and identify any alternatives.
• Documenting: documents requirements through functional requirements specifications and functional feature design, using techniques such as use-case specifications, sequence diagrams, state diagrams, etc. and using specification languages such as Gherkin.
• Modelling: The IT BA models requirements in relation to information structures, functions and behaviour of systems. Using techniques such as: Unified Modelling Language (UML), Data Modelling, Entity-Relationship Modelling (ER), Context Modelling.
• Tests and validates: The IT BA verifies that the delivered IT-solution meets the requirements, supported by use case translation into high level test cases.
IT Business Analyst (IT BA) positioning:
The IT BA is positioned hierarchically in the delivery organizations, while grouped in IT BA Chapters within IT domains*). The primary focus for the IT BA is to determine the functional impact on IT-domains and translating them into in (feature) designs that are input for the IT organization to be delivered in the order as described in the functional roadmap.
The IT BA’s work cross domain, and:
• Are positioned in the hierarchical line of the IT Lead. As their function is closely associated with the functional design and delivery of IT-solutions (i.e. IT applications) in their respective IT domains/areas.
• Are to be grouped in chapters with a Chapter Lead IT Business Analyst to optimize craftsmanship and skill development and personal development of employees.
• Can organize themselves as part of the IT BA community/guild guaranteeing craftsmanship and ensuring consistent way of work across the organization.
• Is typically not part of the IT-delivery squad but works closely together with the IT-delivery squads
