As a Principal Safety Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for leading assurance activities to ensure vehicles can operate safely. 

Required skills:

Experience required of the Principal Safety Engineer

  • Proven experience in safety engineering 
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and risk analysis tools
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders  
  • Experience of the development of safety cases 

 

Qualifications for the Principal Safety Engineer

  • Degree in relevant subject (Safety, Systems Engineering etc)
  • Relevant certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH) advantageous 

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Your responsibilities:

Day-to-day, you’ll conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in processes, systems or equipment.   

  • Ensure designs, systems and operations comply with relevant safety regulations
  • Develop and update safety documentation such as risk registers and safety cases
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate safety principles
  • Lead investigations into safety-related incidents 
  • Attend project and safety review meetings 

 

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and can be based out of Bristol, Walsall or Plymouth.
